APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CUT VINYL (DECAL) VS PRINTED VINYL (STICKER)?

  • Cut Vinyl (Decal) - A decal is where the vinyl is cut into the letters or shape, and has no background. A transfer tape is applied to allow the vinyl to be placed into position without the shapes or letters moving.

  • Printed Vinyl (Sticker) - Stickers are printed or cut into one surface that is able to be pulled away and placed on its own. No transfer tape is required.

PREPARATION FOR ALL DECAL APPLICATIONS
  • All decals & stickers can only be applied to a smooth and flat surface. Any deviations from this can result in a fault in application and a shorter lifespan of your decal as dust or water may be able to get underneath to the adhesive.

  • Before applying any decal/sticker the surface must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Avoid chemicals and clean with warm soapy water.

SQUEEGEES!

Transfer tape is used for applying various shapes to a single surface. For a smooth transition of adhering the cut out shapes (decal) to the transfer tape, and then again to the surface you are adhering to, it is best to use a squeegee! This assists with applying the right and even amount of pressure to move the vinyl to the transfer tape, and then again to move it from the transfer tape to your surface. If you are a regular vinyl junkies, then a squeegee could become your best friend, you only need one as you can use it over and over again! To purchase a squeegee click here!

TIPS & TRICKS:

Decals are a simple and easy way to organise or stylise your life. Anyone can apply them, but occasionally you might need some tips or tricks to help you along the way...

  • Always make sure your surface is clean, dry and free of chemicals before you start applying. This will ensure your decal will apply to your surface with no trouble.

  • After application, the longer you can leave your item before use, the better the glue will set, providing a longer decal life.

  • If you are having trouble removing the backing paper from the decal...

    • your room could be too hot, or too cold, we recommend trying again when the temperature has changed.

    • apply more pressure when rubbing the decal. Try squeezing a finger and your thumb on a corner of the decal to start the process of adhering to the transfer paper.

    • place the decal upside down to peel back the backing paper, rather than the transfer sheet.

    • ... if none of the above has worked for you, please feel free to contact us to discuss...
